We’re just two days away from when the Samsung Galaxy Nexus is supposed to launch for Verizon. That’s what we were being lead to believe, anyway. Keep in mind that while all of these leaks, official looking rumors and everything in between kept swirling by, we were missing the one thing that could have calmed the storm right off the bat: an announcement from Verizon. We still don’t have that, even just two days away from the expected launch, and now we may know why.
In a corresponding report from Droid-Life, the Galaxy Nexus may not be launching this Friday, December 9th. Yes, we know that there are plenty of screen shots from internal systems out there suggesting, if not out-right telling us that the device is scheduled to launch on that particular day, but we’ve got some depressing news. According to a source, we’ve been told that the launch date of 12/9/2011 has been removed from the Galaxy Nexus’ Equipment Guide listing within Verizon’s systems. It has been changed to ‘coming soon,’ as you can see in the image above.
This isn’t the first time that something like this has happened after a leak, but it is disheartening, especially hearing now that the launch date may not be the right one after all. We did hear yesterday that more stock was indeed being shipped to stores, which lines up with previous reports as well. We have no idea what could be going on with this, but we can certainly hope that the 9th does pan out for a launch.
We’re going to keep our ear to the ground on this one, and hope that we hear something different soon. Stay tuned.
