Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 gets a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is possibly the perfect size for a tablet, but the one thing it is missing at the moment is Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. We know that Samsung is planning on officially bringing the latest version of Android to the tablet in the (near?) future, but obviously waiting isn’t in the best interest of some people out there. Thanks to some intrepid developers out there, if you’re willing to root your Galaxy Tab 8.9, you will be able to get Ice Cream Sandwich on your device before the official release.

The custom ROM isn’t available for public consumption quite yet, and not everything is working. Right now the tablet with the ROM running has rotation, sound, the touchscreen, hardware acceleration, Bluetooth and GPS are working just fine. However, the cameras and WiFi aren’t working at all, at the moment. This is pretty standard fare for a new ROM, so it probably won’t be long before these things are fixed and it’s ready for prime time.

Go ahead and watch the video below of the ROM running on the tablet device, and try to be a little bit more patient.
