The last time Toshiba came to the market with a 10.1-inch offering it was called the Thrive and that it did not. It was really the running joke of the “premium” tablet market, but from that experience and the ashes that were created, Toshiba has been reborn. Enter the Excite AT200.
The first thing most will notice that the Excite has shed a lot of excess weight. The Thrive came in with a profile that measured 16 mm in thickness which is what consumers did not want. The new Excite comes in at barely thicker than the recently released DROID RAZR and beats out the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime. The new, slim outer shell houses a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with either 16GB or 32GB of storage, both front and rear cameras (2 and 5 MP respectively), a microSD slot along with a Micro HDMI port. In any case, the changes were needed, necessary, and welcome. The Excite hits Canada in February of 2012 and I’m sure our neighbors to the north are all excited.
