It was originally stated that ASUS’ new flagship tablet, the Transformer Prime, would not be coming in a 3G variant. The reason being ASUS felt that 3G-enabled tablets didn’t sell well compared to their Wi-Fi only-based siblings. ASUS Benelux (Luxembourg, Netherlands and Belgium) is reversing that, and has just announced that a 3G version would be coming after all. It should be released in the next few months, with no pricing information currently available.
They also brought some even better news for current owners and anyone who may be considering buying the tablet in the future. We knew that ASUS was going to release an unlock for the the tablet’s bootloader, but we had no idea when. Benelux has also just confirmed that the unlock will be released in February, and that it will void warranties. It may be a risk to take, but most hackers should be willing. Who would be interested in a 3G-enabled Transformer Prime? Are you excited for the unlocked bootloader? Let us know in the comments!
