Casio launched the G’z0ne on Verizon last year, a phone that ran Android and could withstand a few drops. Casio is looking to release their next tough phone, this time also sporting Android. Details are sparse, but we do know that it appears to run Android, it can withstand a drop from 10 feet, and it can also be submerged up to 10 meters. The phone is even strong enough to hold a whole ton, so there is never a worry of the phone getting crushed by a car or truck.
Beyond that we don’t know much more. It sports a design similar to Casio watches, obviously inspired by them directly. All of the buttons are on the side, including the Home, Back, and Menu keys. An odd design, but could prove useful to a niche demographic. The G-Shock doesn’t win the award for slimmest or prettiest phone, as it appears very thick as well as quite ugly. There is no word on when we can expect the handset to drop, nor what the price will be. We’ll be sure to keep you updated, but in the meantime, let us know what you think of Casio’s latest rugged handset in the comments below.
