Counter-Strike ported to Android, available now

Over the past 10 years one of the most popular FPS games has no doubt been Counter-Strike. While not a direct port, a new game called Counter-Strike Portable has shown up on the XDA forums. It is based on the Unity 3D engine, and takes elements from the original and implements it in a way that Android can run. There are currently two versions, the 5-series app for Android 2.0 and above, as well as the 6-series app for Android 2.3 and above.

While currently a beta, gameplay looks surprisingly smooth. It is also available through Facebook and Kongregate, adding to the number of players. Remember that this isn’t an official version, actually far from it. It is essentially a copycat, featuring the same style and maps. While not currently in the Android Market, it can be downloaded from XDA. Owners of the Xperia Play also have an extra treat, as the game supports the phone’s gamepad. Not all devices are supported, but it is at least worth a shot.

Hit the XDA source link now to give it a shot, and then come back to let us know your experience. Did your device support the game? How was the gameplay?
