Gameloft and Verizon team up for in-game voice chat over 4G LTE network

Verizon’s 4G LTE network is impressive, no doubt about that. But, what would make it better? How about in-game voice chat over your favorite mobile game? Gameloft thinks that would be pretty cool, and the company has teamed-up with Big Red to make sure that happens. The two plan on instituting the chat system over Verizon’s 4G LTE network, bringing gaming to a whole new level eventually.

Here’s the official statement from Gameloft’s VP of marketing:

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Verizon to illustrate the potential of in-game voice chat and multiplayer over the 4G LTE network,” said Baudouin Corman, vice president of Publishing for the Americas at Gameloft. “Gameloft seeks to provide gamers with a complete mobile gaming experience and feels that these features are at the forefront of the platform’s future.”

The technology was showcased at CES 2012, but apparently it managed to go under the radar. But, now that the cat’s out of the bag, we’ve got plenty to look forward to as soon as Verizon can successfully launch VoLTE.
