As 2011 has just closed, it’s that time when Google announces its Q4 results. On the Android front, Google is up to 250 million Android activations. That’s up 60 million from Q3′s 190 million. It gets even better, as an average of 1.08 million devices were activated per day between November 16 and December 31. This is no doubt due to the holiday shopping season, with many deals to be found as well as gifts on the rise. Google did not confirm this themselves, but some clever math along with previous results figured it out.
Google is doing very well, as Android is coming to more and more devices. They are the number one platform, and that doesn’t look to be stopping anytime soon. And with numbers peaking at over 1 million activations per day, it’s nothing to laugh about. Hopefully with more tablets and phones entering the market, the numbers can double by this time next year. It doesn’t seem probable, but would be great to see anyway. Did you activate one of the million Android devices this past holiday season? Plan on picking one up soon? Let us know in the comments!
