Just like the Lenovo IdeaTab S2, which the company officially unveiled for the US market at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last night, the S2 smartphone is set to make an international debut hopefully sometime this year, and the company was more than willing to show it off at their own event late last night. The S2, which is already available in China as the LePhone S2, is still a high-powered Android device that many in the US were hoping would be coming their way sometime in the future. Apparently, Lenovo listened.
The Lenovo S2 smartphone features a 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800×480. Under the hood, you’ll find a 1.4GHz single-core processor, with an 8MP rear-facing camera on the back capable of shooting 720p video. There’s a VGA front-facing shooter. The device will come in two varieties: one with 512MB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, or one with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. It will have a 1,500mAh battery, run Android 2.3 Gingerbread right out of the box, and feature Lenovo’s proprietary Magic 3.0 user interface.
And, just like the Lenovo IdeaTab S2, we don’t know any exact details as to when the handset will be launched in the US, or any other international market other than China. But, the manufacturer seems to be making the right moves to make that happen, so stay tuned.
