If took a Droid RAZR and a Droid RAZR MAXX, you wouldn’t notice any differences aside from the size of the devices. Truth is, the RAZR MAXX has the same hardware as the RAZR, but is slightly thicker with a much larger battery. Motorola was smart with the matter, and it turns out that the two phones run the same exact software. This means that custom ROMs and other updates will fully work on both devices.
This is great news for the developer community, even if they both have locked bootloaders. If someone purchases one of the phones, then they will be able to access and utilize all the development for the other device. In the end, everyone wins. Early results look good, but it will take a little more testing before we know if everything is compatible. Either way, this is looking great for owners of the devices. Own a Droid RAZR or RAZR MAXX?
