Long ago Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note would receive Ice Cream Sandwich sometime in 2012. Beyond that, we had no idea when it would be coming. That changes now, as Samsung’s Norway branch has just confirmed via Facebook that the update would be coming sometime in Q1. There is still a lot of time left in the quarter, but it it at least good to know that Samsung is keeping us updated.
While this news is great for users of the European version of these phones, we have no idea what the US has in store. All the variants have changes to the international version, like different processors and radios. Those changes will most likely delay the release of the update, and probably upset users. When the original Galaxy S was released, Samsung had trouble updating the devices and earned itself a bad reputation. Hopefully they won’t screw up these time around, and users in the US can enjoy Google’s latest dessert. Have a Galaxy Note or Galaxy S II? Excited for the update? Let us know in the comments!
