We covered the Galaxy Tab 7.7′s visit to the FCC last month and since then, there hasn’t been much in the way of news. Well, that changed today because Samsung has seen fit to release the kernel source code for the device. If past behavior is any indicator, this means that the release of the device is imminent. Chances are, we’ll hear more at CES, but this is wonderful news for our amazing developer community. Now, they can get started on unlocking this soon-to-be launched device and with any luck, we’ll be able to root when it drops.
For those that don’t remember, the 7.7-inch tablet features a 1280×800 Super AMOLED Plus display. If you’re keeping track this will be the first tablet that will offer the amazing screen. It also comes with a 1.4GHz dual-core Exynos processor and Android 3.2 (Gingerbread). Another welcome addition is the 5,100 mAh battery for your power consumption needs. You can check out the source code here for the WiFi model, and here for the 3G.
