Samsung Replenish for Sprint getting software update

For those of you out there who picked up the Samsung Replenish when it launched for Sprint’s network, you’re in luck. The device has been given the green light for a new software update, EK18, and it’s bringing Android 2.3 Gingerbread to the device.

The EK18 update will update the device from Android 2.2 Froyo to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, which is obviously the biggest part of the update. You’ll also get improved power management, one-touch word selection and copy and paste functionality. You’ll also get download management, increased operating system efficiency, and a fix to SMS. There are other improvements littered about the system upgrade, so go ahead and test it out.

The update is an over the air (OTA) update, so it will be rolling out in stages. Sprint says the approximate time to download and install is about 10 minutes, so keep that in mind.
