Now that Sony and Ericsson have gone their separate ways, Sony is waist-deep in this heated smartphone race all on its own. Not surprisingly, the company has come out with guns blazing, showcasing their new devices with some very high-end specs, and designs that should get most phone enthusiasts out there excited.
And, thanks to our friends at PhoneDog, we’ve managed to get some hands-on time with one of them. The Xperia S is a device that features a 4.3-inch Reality 720p HD display, with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under the hood. Around the back you’ll find a 12.1MP camera with 1080p HD video capture capabilities. Unfortunately, or at least at this exact moment, the device is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, and Sony’s Timescape user interface is attached.
