Back in October of last year Sony decided that it would buy Ericsson’s part in the joint venture of Sony Ericsson, and that has just been approved by the European Commission. This means an end to phones with Sony Ericsson branding, and the start of just Sony Xperia phones. The acquisition is costing Sony a cool €1.05 billion, and they will have full control over their mobile phones. It may be sad to some as Ericsson is essentially leaving the phone market, but hopefully this will give Sony the ability to create better handsets. Sad that there won’t be anymore Sony Ericsson phones? Happy about the acquisition? Let us know in the comments!
