This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard that Amazon is working on a new tablet. Initial rumors suggested that Amazon was working on an 8.9-inch version of their Kindle Fire tablet, and that was before the world was rocked by the massive selling potential of Amazon’s first tablet device. But now that the Kindle Fire is out, and selling like hot cakes, analysts are starting to chime in as to what Amazon’s next move is. And, not surprisingly, rumors are back full-force regarding another tablet.
This time around, Chad Bartley of Pacific Crest is putting his two cents in. First and foremost, he is upping his full-year Kindle Fire shipping estimates to 14.9 million units. Bartley previously pinned it at 12.7 million. He is quoted as saying, “We believe there is an upward bias, particularly from the new 7- and 9-inch models, which we expect to launch in mid-2012,” in a note to his clients. That tells us that at least one analyst is predicting Amazon to not only update the current Kindle Fire with another 7-inch model, but to also add a 9-inch model to the fray as well.
With pegs marking this Summer as an expected launch, we probably won’t have to wait long before Amazon reveals something.
