Many fans of flashing ROMs have been eagerly awaiting for the latest release of the popular CyanogenMod, which will bring Ice Cream Sandwich to many devices. It appears that not everything is going to plan though, as the developers have encountered some issues. Ice Cream Sandwich requires updated graphics drivers, something closed-source and hard to achieve for many devices. This is leading to delays in releasing the ROM, with more time needed on many devices.
While this delay is unfortunate, things are starting to look better for some users. Devices with the Exynos chipset (Galaxy S II, international Galaxy Note) will be next in receiving a full port, followed by devices using the Qualcomm MSM8660 and 7×30. Older devices like the Nexus One EVO 4G may not even see the ROM, as it would be a tough port. It seems more likely than not that they will see it, as Android developers never cease to amaze us. Do you own a device on the list for a full port? Are you mad your device didn’t make the list? Let us know in the comments!
