Back in August of last year, Motorola and Google announced that the latter company had every intention of acquiring them. The deal was measured in at $12.5 billion, and today is the day of days for the European Commission to make their final assessment of the proposed deal. According to Google’s official blog, that decision has been made, and now the search giant is one step closer to officially acquiring Motorola.
The European Commission has given their A-OK to the acquisition. As Google points out in their blog post, they are now just waiting for a few more jurisdictions to give them the green light as well, before they can make the acquisition final. But, it is one step closer in the “right direction.” Of course, we’ll have to wait and see what actually happens with this deal, if it finalizes.
Are you excited for the idea?
