Another day, another tablet, right? It may not be that busy these days, it isn’t a surprise to hear about another tablet finding its way to the market. Unfortunately, this time around, it isn’t a tablet running Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich mobile OS, or even Android 3.0 Honeycomb. As you can see from the image, this is a “business” tablet running Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
The quotes are around the business title because based on the specifications of this particular tablet, we’re not really sure how it would stack up in the business world. It has only a 7-inch display, with a resolution of 1024×600. There’s 8GB of built-in storage, and only 512MB of RAM. The whole show is powered by a 1GHz processor. There is a microSD card slot, an HDMI port, and the standard WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
As far as pricing goes, the folks in Japan are looking at a ¥34,800 price tag. That equals about $455. There is no mention of an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and that’s really not all that surprising. It’s set to release in Japan later this month, and apparently if the release is successful it will ultimately find its way to other international markets.
