HTC confirms that some devices leak WiFi passwords

In a report issued this morning, HTC has confirmed that some of their devices leak WiFI passwords. The company says that some of these Android-based devices leak secure credentials while on a WiFi network. On any WiFi network they are connected to. Of course, as HTC has admitted to the problem, they’ve also confirmed that an over the air update is on the way to the devices suffering from the problem.

TheNextWeb is reporting that there is little in the way of actually stopping anyone who is aware of the issue from getting your information on a public WiFi network that your device is connected to. As far as the list of devices, you’re looking at:

  • HTC Sensation 4G
  • HTC Glacier
  • DROID Incredible
  • ThunderBolt 4G
  • Sensation
  • Desire S
  • EVO 3D
  • EVO 4G

As soon as HTC issues a fix, we will let you know.
