While it is galloping around the Internet as the Xperia U now, the device you see above was previously known as the codenamed Kumquat, featuring the model number S25i in previous reports. That’s still the same, but as we’ve heard in the past, it looks like Sony will be going with Xperia U whenever this phone finally decides to launch. Unlike in its previous photo shoot, the Xperia U is now sitting nicely with its bigger brother, the Xperia S, showcasing how much smaller the Xperia U is in the process.
For a refresher, the Xperia U is rumored to feature a 3.5-inch display, with a resolution of 480×854. There’s supposedly a 1GHz dual-core processor under the hood, and a 5MP rear-facing camera with 720p HD video capture capabilities. It will reportedly be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread out of the box, which isn’t a surprise in the slightest.
Nothing is official quite yet, but we don’t imagine it will stay that way for too much longer. So if you’re interested in the smaller Xperia device with that notification strip, stay tuned.
