Lenovo hasn’t officially announced anything quite yet, but it looks like the company is bringing a direct competitor, at least based on a reported size of their new tablet, to the market at some point this year. If the FCC filing is any indicator, then Lenovo has a brand new Android tablet coming down the pipe that will measure in at 9.7-inches, and feature Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.
As the title suggests, the new tablet is called the IdeaTab S2109, and it will come with a 9.7-inch IPS display, with an aspect ratio of 4:3. There will be a TI OMAP chip running the show, but there were no specifics provided. There will also be four SRS-ready speakers on board.
There have been no announcements quite yet, but an unnamed source speaking to Engadget said that the tablet will be launching this month. The source could not confirm any markets, though. The FCC filing suggests that the new tablet could be heading to places like the US, Germany, India and or Russia. If it is indeed launching this month, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to hear official word form Lenovo.
