Late last night, initial word of a new device called the Optimus Elite broke cover, suggesting that Sprint has yet another device planned for an early launch this year. However, unlike the rumored HTC Jewel we heard about a few days ago, the Optimus Elite is a handset that’s specifically aimed at the entry-level market, and has the stats to prove it.
Keep in mind that none of this is official quite yet, but rumors suggest the Optimus Elite will have a 3.2-inch touchscreen display, with a resolution of 480×320. It will come with 4GB of built-in storage, and 512MB of RAM. There’s a 5MP rear-facing camera, and the device will have NFC support as well. There’s no word on which version of Android the device will be running, but it looks to be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread in the render above.
Rumors also suggest it could launch as early as May, but we’ll have to wait on official word on that. Stay tuned.
