A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, there was the DROID 2 R2-D2 edition. All joking aside, this could be a good day for owners of the handset, as Verizon and Motorola are now rolling out an update to the phone. No, it doesn’t a real life R2-D2 to the phone (or even Ice Cream Sandwich, for that matter), but still includes some fixes that at least some users should appreciate.
First and foremost, it brings the phone to Android 2.3.4. Next up is security patches, bug fixes, updates to the Verizon branded apps, and better data connectivity. All of this should make current owners much happier with their handsets, even if it isn’t an update to the latest version of Android. Hit the Verizon link for more info. Who owns the R2-D2 edition DROID 2? Should Verizon make a Darth Vader edition DROID 5? Or should Apple make a Jar Jar Binks edition iPhone? Let us know in the comments!
