Late last night, seemingly out of nowhere, Samsung announced that the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was being pushed out in select regions around the globe. While some places were left out, if you are lucky enough to own a Galaxy S II in Europe or Korea, then you’ll be getting Ice Cream Sandwich in no time. But for those of you in the UK, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Samsung, speaking with Pocket-lint confirmed that the Ice Cream Sandwich update would begin rolling out to other select markets in stages. Not surprising, to say the least. Samsung also confirmed that in the UK, the update will be completely dependent upon carriers and their approval process. So while Samsung is releasing the update in the UK on the 19th of March, the carriers may not actually release it to your phone until sometime after that.
Still no word as to when we should expect to see the update here in the States, but at least we can start to hope that it happens in March.
