The Galaxy S II by Samsung is one of the pinnacle Android-based devices out there, even as we all keep talking about what’s coming next from Samsung. but while it’s still wildly popular, all the owners of the high-end handset are still wondering when they will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Well, if you happen to be in Israel, or purchased your device from the country, it looks like you don’t have all that long to wait, if the company’s regional Facebook page is accurate.
In a Facebook post that was eventually taken down, Samsung Israel confirmed that the handset would be receiving Android 4.0 beginning on March 15th. Here’s the pull quote:
“We promised we were working on it. You waited patiently. And on 15 March it’ll arrive: Android version 4, ICS, to tens of thousands of GALAXY S II devices purchased from cellular companies in the country or directly from us. We are very excited for the launch, hope you are too.”
So, while it’s not an official, official date by any means (Samsung hasn’t issued a press release, basically), there’s a good chance that this is true. Of course, that doesn’t give us anything regarding any of the other Galaxy S II devices out there, but at least it’s a start.
