Yesterday we reported that Apple was going to offer Motorola and Samsung a chance to step out of the lawsuits, instead having Apple license out their patents for Android devices. We have now received word that Samsung isn’t at all interested in the idea. Head of Samsung’s telecommunications division Shin Jong-kyun claims that there will be “No compromise”, officially stating that Samsung will keep fighting in the patent wars. Not an unexpected move, considering Apple wanted $5-$15 for every Android handset sold.
This is a good move by Samsung, as otherwise Apple would automatically win. They would be making even more cash off of its competition, effectively raising Android phone prices. This is bad for business, as we’d assume that most people want to pay less for their phones. We still have no word on what Motorola plans to do, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted as soon as we find out. Was this a smart move on Samsung’s part? What do you think Motorola will do?
