Verizon reveals update list, tells which phones will be receiving Ice Cream Sandwich

Companies may announce which of its devices will be receiving Android updates, but carriers usually stay quiet about their specific variants. Verizon has gone all out today though, and has just revealed that 14 of its current high-end smartphones and tablets will be receiving the update to Android 4.0. The full list is below.

HTC:

  • HTC ThunderBolt™
  • DROID Incredible 2 by HTC
  • HTC Rhyme™
  • HTC Rezound™

Motorola:

  • Motorola XOOM
  • DROID BIONIC™
  • DROID RAZR™
  • DROID RAZR™ MAXX™
  • DROID 4
  • DROID XYBOARD 8.2
  • DROID XYBOARD 10.1

Samsung:

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 10.1
  • Samsung Galaxy Tab™ 7.7

LG:

Spectrum™ by LG

This is a great list, but it may also bring some disappointment to users of devices not on the list. Only two devices on that list don’t feature LTE radios, which is something that is notable. It appears that despite selling some high-end 3G phones like the DROID X2, it won’t be receiving the jump to Ice Cream Sandwich. Weird to say the least, but it appears that LTE is the future, at least in Verizon’s eyes. Are you excited to receive the Android 4.0 update? Are you outraged that your phone won’t be updated? Let us know in the comments!
