It’s always interesting to see the lastest Android distribution charts, and we’ve now got the newest one. Android 2.3 Gingerbread still leads the way at a whooping 63.7%, a 1.7% increase from last month’s 62%. Next up is Android 2.2 Froyo, with 23.1%, a number that is surprising considering most devices have been updated to at least Android 2.3.
Now we have some of the more disappointing news, like the status of the latest Android version, 4.0. It is currently on only 2.9% of all active Android devices, which is sad considering it has been available since last year. Most devices are just beginning to see the Android 4.0 update now, but it shows that manufacturers have been a little too slow with their updates.
Android 3.0 Honeycomb is currently sitting at 3.3%, followed by Android 2.1 Eclair at 6%, neither of which will hold for too much longer. Finishing things up is Android 1.6 Donut at 0.7%, and his pal Android 1.5 Cupcake at 0.3%. It’s always good to see where Android is at, and there are always at least a few surprising numbers. Did any of these numbers surprise you? What Android version are you on? Let us know in the comments!
