Customers who purchased an ASUS Transformer Prime and registered for a free GPS dongle are starting to receive them today. The dongle should fix all GPS issues Prime owners have been experiencing.
While this is a good gesture by ASUS, is it enough? Yes, it fixes the issues caused by ASUS itself. But, the dongle is quite big and really ugly. The design seems to be badly thought out and doesn’t match the Transformer Prime’s aesthetics whatsoever. Also, it has no passthrough connector, so the tablet cannot be charged while it is using the GPS. Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a GPS, if it dies on you mid trip? Assuming anyone uses their 10″ tablet as a GPS in the first place.
