AT&T has just announced that residents of Akron and Canton, Ohio, and Lafayette, Indiana are now live with LTE coverage. All three cities were announced as part of planned LTE expansion earlier this month, but hadn’t been given a specific launch date. According to AT&T, their LTE network now covers 35 markets providing internet speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G. I’m not so sure about 10x as fast, but LTE is definitely faster.
“We continue to see demand for mobile Internet skyrocket, and our 4G LTE network in Akron responds to what customers want from their mobile experience — more, faster, on the best devices. Akron customers now have our fastest available speeds with 4G LTE, and customers across Ohio are enjoying fast speeds on the nation’s largest 4G network,” said Larry Evans, vice president and general manager, AT&T Ohio and western Pennsylvania.
