(Updated) Google Drive Android App Already Downloaded More Than 5 Million Times
Update: The moment I posted this a number of you pointed out that the download volume is merely because the app was rolled over from Google Docs. I had not realized that, so…nothing to see here. Move along! These are not the Droids you are looking for.
We could have seen this coming as Google Drive surpasses 5 million Android downloads less than 48 hours after launch. Haven’t started with Google Drive yet? Well, here’s what you need to know:
- Drive provides new users 5GB free for each user account, upgrades are 25GB for $2.49 a month, 100GB for $4.99 a month or even 1TB for $49.99 a month
- Docs storage does not count against your Google Drive storage allotment
- Desktop apps are already available for Windows and OS X
- Drive allows 30+ different file types to open natively in the browser, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and HD video even if you don’t have the apps installed on your computer

I thought Docs was just changed to Drive, so that the number of downloads was actually that of Docs and Drive combined?
