The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update is ready for the Huawei MediaPad. It was the first tablet in the world to have Honeycomb 3.2, and now it’s one of the few to be running Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s an impressive feat for a company that isn’t as popular as bigger manufacturers like HTC, Samsung, and Motorola (my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is still stuck on 3.2).
Installing the update is not quite as easy as on most devices, which use over the air updates, so you’ll have to download software from Huawei’s site. It has been reported to be mostly stock Android, with few customizations, which is great. Huawei definitely seems to be on the right track, and if they introduce some great products to the market and keep up the good updating schedule and keep using stock Android, they may be very successful soon. They have a lot of potential.
