Sanjay Jha, the former Chief Executive of Motorola Mobility was awarded a total compensation package of $47 million in 2011, four times his 2010 pay. Why the tremendous jump in pay? Motorola says it’s due to the “successful splitting of Motorola into two companies last year to form Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions.”
Jha’s 2011 pay package includes options awards increasing from the $13 million he earned in 2011 and is responsible for the significant jump in pay. We should add that Motorola had an $80 million dollar net loss in the fourth quarter of 2011 while Jha walks away from the company with more than enough money to enjoy his early retirement.
It’s good to be CEO.
