Sprint has long offered a TEP plan, also known as Total Equipment Protection, for those who are worried they may somehow damage their devices. The cost has been $8 a month, but with many high-end LTE devices around the corner, that may soon be changing. A newly leaked document shows that Sprint will be increasing its TEP fee from $8 to $11 for all LTE devices costing $549 or up starting June 16.
Considering the rising prices of phones and the use of fragile materials, Sprint is recognizing that the protection of phones isn’t as cheap of an industry as it used to be. It applies to the Galaxy Nexus, and we’re pretty sure it’s gone to apply to the EVO 4G LTE once it is released. Who’s planning on getting a new high-end phone from Sprint soon? Is the rising insurance cost discouraging you from it all together? Let us know in the comments!
