Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobility, has stated that AT&T will soon offer a family data plan it its customers. This means customers could buy one amount of data for the whole family plan, just like they do with minutes, and share it. Not only could this be a cost effective option for families with members who do not use much data, but this would also help sell devices like tablets. Buying another data plan for a tablet drives many people away, but this could definitely persuade people to buy them.
Yesterday, de la Vega stated “I’m very comfortable with the plan that will be offered to our customers,” which is a stark change from his hesitance with shared data plans months ago. He claimed that the company had run into problems, namely over billing. But they seem to have gotten it right. Unfortunately, he declined to provide any important information. We will just have to wait for an official unveiling.
