Hands-On With Toshiba’s Monster Sized 13″ Tablet, At What Point Are We Going Too Big?

I’ll be the first to say that Toshiba’s release of their Excite 13″ tablet is, in my opinion, a little too much for todays tablet market. A massively over-sized tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich, one has to ask just how much use something this large would get outside of the home or office? Full-screen web browsing on the 1600 x 900 pixels screen? It sounds wonderful and there is no question browsing on a display that size would make for a great experience. Still, if I’m willing to commit to a tablet that large, why not just take with a computer with me?

In any case, the Excite 13″ tablet runs Android 4.0.3 with a “very light Toshiba set of features” running on top, mostly in the form of applications only. Toshiba has included their own media player allowing you to connect with other types of devices and offer the tablet a true movie-watching experience. There is no doubt the 13″ screen can come in handy in certain situations, but as a tablet, I wonder if we’re reaching the point where too big is too big.
