HTC Desire S Gets First Dose of Android 4.0.4

For you HTC Desire S owners out there looking for a change of pace will be happy to find out there’s a fairly stable build of Android 4.0.4 running Sense 3.6 to play with.  XDA recognized developer mdeejay posted the new rom from the Virtuous Dev Team named VituousSaga on the XDA forums on the 23rd.   Android 4.0.4 only offers small changes over other ICS builds already available to the Desire S, but it’s an update that offers users and developers something new to play with. mdeejay lists the following about the rom:

Features
- Multilanguage
- Ultra Fast
- Improved EXT4 performance
- Improved animation performance
- Deodexed
- Busybox / Superuser
- Zipaligned
- Latest Maps
- Latest Market
- etc

Removed
- htc spy bloatware
- Teeter
- Adobe Reader (you can download it from Market)
- Some other HTC bloatware

I like that the developer has taken the liberty to remove the “htc spy bloatware,” which is believed to be the known HTCLoggers.apk to improve privacy.  Most users are reporting the build is good enough for a daily driver, with some bugs being reported with closing the camera and graphics glitches with certain apps.

So if you own an HTC Desire S, be sure to check this rom out.  If you’ve already tried it out or are giving it a run, tell us what you think!
