Samsung S-Voice App Gets Taken Offline As Samsung Blocks Access To Non-Galaxy S III Devices

Well, it was fun while it lasted but Samsung and/or Vlingo have locked down access to the app for unauthorized devices, read: nothing but the Galaxy S III gets any S-Voice love now. According to XDA-Developers, S-Voice commands are hitting Vlingo’s servers and then being rebuffed as the servers recognize a non-Galaxy S III model.

If you really, really want S-Voice now, you’ll just have two wait and get it on your carrier of choice when the Galaxy S III drops in the US, presumably sometime in June. That’s not too long is it?

No S-Voice for you!

I'm not paying 200$ to get an exclusive app even if I happened to have an upgrade to use onit..I most certainly will not pay 500$+ for a new phone to get an exclusive app.It sucks that Samsung isn't just letting it slide for those of us not on an SIII device :/ Especially since it just seems to be  using Vlingo anyway.. It still needed some fine tuning.. but, I actually had some hope for it.

@androids ghost You are complaining about something that is pretty petty and trivial! Its a NEW feature for a NEW device, so get over yourself. If I remember correctly Apple did the same thing for SIRI! If you have rooted phone, you can enjoy SOME Of the features and functionality of the app. Keep in mind it was developed FOR the Galaxy SIII, so even if your are able to use not everything works! So chill out and quit your whining!

@androids ghost Well thank you for thinking that I'm a parent, lol! Kids are the last thing on my mind right now! as far as Samsung blocking it, they have the right to do so. No one said you had to buy the phone, but yes if you want the feature that is exclusive to the SGS3, then, yes you do. It may be powered by vlingo, but its def got more features than vlingo. Like I said, if you want to use it, root your phone and follow the instructions, listed below, for changing your device ID. I'm using it as we speak, and it's still working. So just because I called you out on your ish, doesn't mean you needed to resort to name calling. I'm sick and tired of people like you who think everything is owed to them. It would be like 2010 mustang owners complaining about all the upgrades ford did to the 2011 mustang; same car but with better newer engines. So yes, please do get over yourself!

Matlock I don't think anything is "owed" to me.I'm just tired of being told to "chill out" on the internet when the person telling me to chill out is making a bigger deal of me complaining than I made while complaining.I apologize for my post which I deleted realizing it was in bad taste hoping it wouldn't be seen. Let me just explain right now there is one thing that really sets me off, and that is people who chalk any and all complaints up to "you're full of yourself!" and "well you just think the world owes you something don't you?" Just because I think something sucks/disagrees with it doesn't automatically think I am entitled to anything. And there is absolutely no reason people making generalized assumptions about my personality based off of a complaint shouldn't be annoying.

It didn't work on my Galaxy Note. Kept getting a network resource error. So I'm guessing it was blocked yesterday when everyone was trying to install the apk.

what about if you already downloaded itll work rite

@inaudy - No. Its being blocked by the servers if not coming from a S III device.

actually it is again possible but you have to own a rooted device. You "just" have to change your device ID with a root explorer.Check the xda forum for more about the workaround:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1664785

Yeah I did this last night, and changed my device ID, and it is still working for me! Although once I use it, it pretty much is useless, until I close it and restart it again! Using GSM/HSPA GNexus!
