Sprint Officially Announced HTC EVO 4G LTE Delay
Looks like the HTC EVO 4G LTE will not be coming when announced. To make matters worse, further shipments of the AT&T HTC One X will also be delayed, so stock may run out. HTC shared this statement about the delay of HTC phones explaining the situation:
“The US availability of HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order. We believe we are in compliance with the ruling and HTC is working closely with Customs to secure approval. HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE have both received enthusiastic support and we appreciate customers patience as we work to get these products into their hands as soon as possible.”
Sprint then confirmed that the LTEVO will be delayed, without a new release time due to uncertainty. They also provided pre-order cancellation instructions, though I see no reason to do so. The phone is coming and nothing changed except the date. If there is anyone to blame, it’s Apple for causing this fiasco. So I suggest not cancelling any pre-orders and just wait for the phone. It really isn’t Sprint’s fault, and doesn’t seem like HTC’s fault.

This may be a blessing in disguise for the folks at Sprint. Without the LTE service being operational in the announced markets, this phone is extremely slow. Getting this phone without the LTE service being operational would be extremely frustrating to many users. Sure there may be a few people that understand the reasons for slow data, but the vast majority of new users will want a fast phone out of the box.
