The HTC One S, the more mid end brother to the wildly popular One X, has been released in Taiwan. It will come with a 1.7 GHz dual core! Sounds exciting, right? It’s an overclocked One S! Nope. It’s running a Snapdragon S3 processor. A last gen processor that was disappointing even for its time. Even at a higher clock, it doesn’t hold a candle to the new S4 processor.
An HTC spokesman claims that the two processors will provide users with the same experience, but anyone who knows their processors knows that’s a dirty lie. It’ll have more stuttering, it’ll be slower, and (since the S4 is based on the new A15 architecture) it’ll have worse battery life. So Taiwan is unfortunately getting a worse phone. let’s hope it’ll be cheaper. The One S is already overpriced.
