Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Confirmed Via Google Play, Hitting GSM Galaxy Nexus First

There has been a lot of speculation on what will be announced next week at Google I/O, but we now have a good idea of what will be on the software front. We now believe that the next version of Android is all but officially confirmed, as a new piece of information found in the Google Play store has been revealed. When ordering a GSM Galaxy Nexus, the description of the device confirms it as the first phone to receive Android 4.1, Jelly Bean.

This comes from Google itself, so we’re going to believe it. Take a peek at the image above, for even more confirmation on the matter.

Please note that in the image it says the Galaxy Nexus will be the first phone to receive the new version of Android. For the last two iterations of Android, Google has launched hardware with the new version. We think that the specific mention of a phone may mean we’ll be seeing a tablet launching alongside Jelly Bean, as rumors have stated for the last few months. Google I/O is only a week away, and we’ll then be able to see what’s next for Android.
