ASUS Transformer prime Receives New OTA Update, Face Unlock Included

ASUS is pretty good about keeping their devices up to date on the software front and today they’re pushing a minor over-the-air update to the Transformer Prime. One of the nice features that this update brings is Face Unlock which Prime owners have been missing for a while. Other bundled things include a GPS dongle fix, some app updates, and more. This update bumps the software up to version 9.4.2.28. Here’s the full changelog for the update:

  • GPS dongle fix and local notification
  • Ethernet UI support to set Ethernet connect policy when screen off
  • Add system bar lock settings for showing/hiding system info
  • Enable face unlock feature
  • Support Bluetooth HDP
  • Third party app upgrades
  • Other bug fixes

It sounds like users of the Transformer Prime are getting the OTA update no matter where they live so you should check your device to see if it’s been pushed to you yet. We’ve also heard that this update is compatible with rooted devices so if you do have your device rooted then you should be okay but we recommend running rootkeeper and backing up your device before the update if you are rooted just as a safety precaution. Once you download the update, be sure to hit us up in the comments and tell us how you’re liking it.
