Google TV Getting Revamped Google Play Store Later This Year

Today marked the second day of Google I/O 2012 and at the Google TV presentation this morning, it was announced that a new version of the Google Play Store will be hitting later this year. Google TV has always been a bit behind on apps and such because of the fact that it’s a TV and has different hardware than Android phones and tablets. This latest version that will be hitting at an unannounced time later this year will include subscription billing support and the ability to (finally) allow Music, Movie, and TV show purchases. Obviously this update is aimed right at helping Google TV get better integrated with devices like the Nexus 7, Nexus Q, and Galaxy Nexus and should be a nice treat for owners of Google TV.
