One of Ice Cream Sandwich’s most notable features, Face Unlock, has been continuously scrutinized as being a gimmick. With Jelly Bean, Google aims to change that perception by introducing “Liveness check”, a new feature that requires the user to blink his or her eyes while unlocking their device.
Previously, users have been able to trick the system by simply placing a photo of the owner in front of the camera. While the liveness check does seem to provide some additional security, it seems as though the feature doesn’t pick up normal blinking too well and in turn slows down the entire process even more.
Are any of you running an early Jelly Bean ROM? If so, what do you think of the new unlocking system?
