TheOneandOnlyAnonymouse Its not consumers fault if NO ONE TELLS THEM THIS. Unlike teens, we didn't grow up on all this technology...We didn't take classes in school and the hourly employees at the computer or phone stores don't give us accurate information - they often don't know the answer. Thats one way Apple at least is good in that they will hand hold you when you buy a new Mac and give you classes to show yo what to do and what its capable of. WIthout that, people like my mom are so intimidated about technology, that she still doesnt have a computer or smartphone and is missing out on so many things- at a minimum, she could email or Skype with her grandchildren...but she's too scared of trying any of it. She barely can use voicemail as she still has an old fashioned answering machine and when she does use a cell phone (old kind for emergencies only) she doesnt even know how to chck the voicemails to return a call.
As an IT Specialist and Computer programmer, I get to hear soooo many myths from people. Some of these just make me want to wonder why those people are even permitted to have a computer, pda, mobile device, or anything that uses electricity,
One myth for example is about laptop batteries. Batteries are best kept in the fridge store with only a partial charge. However, the big myth is its best either leave them plugged in and charging constantly, or let them sit at full charge in a warm dry area. I know this is a more specialized myth, but definitely a sort of PSA for people lol.
