AT&T Drops One X Price Tag To $99

The HTC One X has consistently proven to be one of the most powerful handsets in the US market and now its adding value into the mix. Beginning today, the HTC One X will be available from AT&T for just $99. The decision surely stems from the intense competition that Samsung has sparked with its Galaxy S III line, already selling 10 million units.

At $99 the One X goes head-to-head with other Android devices like the Motorola Atrix HD and Sony’s Xperia Ion. At this price point there’s no doubt who the clear winner is. With its incredible SLCD display and speedy performance, HTC’s One X takes the cake. So, if you’ve held off on picking one of these bad boys up, now’s your chance.

Phone deposit $99 + sales tax $37 + activation $36 = $172.

(yes, you are paying tax on the FULL price of the phone.)

Minimum plan at $59.99 for 2 years = $1,439.76

End cost of phone = $1,611.76

MacRat That's exactly why It's better just to buy the best phone when signing up for a contract...or just pick up an unlocked GNex.

astontopgears I'm not sure I follow what you are saying. The only reason I would even consider paying full price is that I did not have to sign a contract. Otherwise, signing a contract AND paying full price would actually cost the buyer more. If MacRat's calcs are accurate, the end cost would easily be over $2,000.oo

Only because you are paying 200-300% more than the rest of the world for that monthly contract charge.

That's why the Verizon/AT&T duopoly is anti-competitive.

MacRat Verizon & ATT (as much as they are loved/hated) are not a duopoly. Sprint, T-Mobile, in addition to a number of MVNO's are thriving businesses here in the USA. And as far as the rest of the world goes, how much do you really know about them? From my observations, there is plenty of trade-offs in each scenario.
