Gamestop Fully Stocked With Nexus 7 Tablets, Waiting For “Go” To Sell

While those of you with outstanding Nexus 7 pre-orders are waiting around for emails telling you your product is on the way, retail outlets like Gamestop are sitting on their own inventory. The problem here is that they can’t sell them, as this internal memo from a local Gamestop location shows the “street date for the Google Nexus 7 is to be determined.” So who are we waiting on to give the go-ahead? Why Google of course and their “go” order to begin sales.

Word is that Google has asked 3rd party retailers to hold off on sales until folks receive their pre-orders from the Google Play Store. Honestly, that’s very noble of Google and we’re pretty happy to see they don’t want us disappointed with our Google Play shopping experience. Still, we can’t help but think that in order for this tablet to quickly take the top Android tablet crown, it should be released to the masses asap, pre-orders be damned.

The good news is that no matter where you pick up your Nexus 7, the $25 Google Play Store credit applies. That’s got to count for something.

"...pre-orders be damned." No thats what a pre-order is for.

I like the $25 Play Store credit idea. What Google really needs to do it make Play Store gift cards. A lot of people are pretty hesitant about spending money online (on books, music, apps, or anything else) and getting a gift card and being able to put it right into the Play Store, so you'd have X dollars to spend would be a great idea and I think a lot of people would take advantage of it.

roboguy12 *THIS*  When my daughter was getting an iPod Touch for Christmas, it was great to tell family they could get her iTunes cards.  I thought then that it would be great to have something equivalent for Android Market (now Google Play).
