Google Now Completely Working on AOSP-Based ICS ROMs?

The title of this story is in the form of a question because I can’t confirm the reported results, and following the forums, it seems there are mixed results.  However, XDA Recognized Developer febycv is reporting that he has Android 4.1 Jelly Bean’s Google Now working on rooted devices running ICS AOSP Roms.  The process to get Google Now working involves manually editing your phone’s build.prop and editing the name of the GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk to GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk1.  So, the process actually seems relatively simple, but as I stated earlier, it seems to be getting mixed results.  It may be that people aren’t running the appropriate Roms on their devices and that’s why it’s not working.  I’m running a mostly stock custom Rom on my Epic 4G Touch, so I can’t try it out myself.  Issues that people are having sound similar to the issues I was seeing with the method to get the Jelly Bean Google Search working on any ICS device that I posted earlier.  If you’re running a device with an AOSP Rom, bet sure to check this out and let us know how it works out for you.  If you’re not running an AOSP Rom, check out my other post or continue to patiently wait for more development to happen with Google Now, or wait until your device gets updated to Jelly Bean I suppose.  Let us know your thoughts…
