Have A Jelly Bean Flavored Lock Screen With Holo Locker

Ever since I got my Nexus 7 last week, I’ve been in love with clean look and smooth flow of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.  So much that I’ve been redecorating my Epic 4G Touch so that it’s similarly styled. Maybe I’m totally lame, but until my tablet really finds it’s true place in my daily life, it’s going to have a really clean setup and be similarly styled as my phone. One app I’ve found to help me achieve the Jelly Bean feel on my device is Holo Locker by Mobint Software, the same developer who has brought us Holo Launcher. This app changes your lockscreen to a stock Jelly Bean layout. The Jelly Bean lockscreen isn’t much different from ICS (I’ve tried to demonstrate the differences below), it allows you to swipe the lock to the right to unlock the device or to the left to unlock directly into your camera. This unlock-to-camera feature is something that my stock Samsung lockscreen doesn’t have, and that I really like to have with kids running around doing ridiculous things. Different from ICS, when you tap the lock, a burst of tiny white circles emit outward. I tried to get a screen shot of this as you can see above. Also, when you move your finger over the lock or camera, the circle turns white. Lastly, instead of a circle following your finger around the array of little circles follows your finger until you make a selection. This Holo Locker does a pretty darn good job making your lockscreen true to the Jelly Bean form which is pretty fun.

So, if you’re looking to change up your lockscreen to a more stock Android feel, this Holo Locker should be right up your alley. Holo Locker is really easy to set up and gives some options for customization such as emergency unlock, hiding or disabling the status bar pull down, or the ability to let your lockscreen rotate or not. It’s available for free in the Google Play store and is a fantastic alternative to your stock lockscreen. It works on Android 2.2+.  I’m using it and having a good time with it.  I haven’t noticed any lag or strange happenings while using it.  It works like you’d expect it to as it should. Let us know if you’re looking to change up your lockscreen and if this might be up your alley.

I tried this one, and the only thing it lacks is when you receive a message, it doesnt show the notification on the lock screen for you to swipe and immediately read.

Exactly! the lovely feature of ICS/JB, when you can drop the notification drawer even at the lockscreen does not work! apart from that its nice.

Just a athought, couldn't we push the jellybean framework-res.apk and push it to ICS?

@chalmizzle first, correct me if I'm wrong someone, but the stock lock screen doesn't come with that feature (SMS notification that you can swipe to). That's a cool feature added by touchwiz or whatever manufacturer. Second, I think the lock screen pulldown is an option with the jb lockscreen app. Check out the lock screen options and make sure that's enabled. If that still doesn't work' maybe contact the Dev because it's an awesome feature that should work
